A little bit about us

Our team at the company is comprised of individuals with backgrounds in guiding, conservation and SME development, who are passionate about spending time in nature and learning about ecosystems, biodiversity, and the interconnectedness of all living beings.

Over the years, we have recognized the importance of focusing on the relationships between communities surrounding wildlife parks, due to the increasing concern of poaching and unrest. As a result, we have honed our skills and are now actively working with communities to implement a more inclusive and sustainable lodge management model.

Our key focus areas include communication, skills development, and empowering communities to participate in the global economy through tourism initiatives.

Despite being a small team, each member is committed to finding a systems approach that balances the need for development with the protection of natural environments and wildlife.

 

Margueriet Jones

Margueriet, a FGASA accredited field guide, transitioned into a career as a wildlife photographer and filmmaker. Currently working on a documentary addressing human-wildlife conflict in African National Parks, she aims to amplify the voices of communities and advocate for a more inclusive future. With a background in environmental management, Margueriet hopes to leverage her experiences to facilitate meaningful conversations and develop inclusive systems to protect both people and the planet.

Joanne van Vuuren

Joanne's professional journey began with a focus on Internal Auditing, which eventually sparked her interest in enterprise development within the mining industry through her work with Anglo Zimele. Recognizing the crucial role that fences play in supporting biodiversity, she has set her sights on empowering rural communities to enter the fencing industry, thereby safeguarding and preserving biodiversity while also ensuring that these communities derive sustainable benefits from biodiversity-related activities.

Craig McFarlane

Craig, with over 25 years of experience in guiding and training, has dedicated his career to building relationships with communities adjacent to Africa's most well-known National Parks. His vision is to elevate the guiding industry in Africa by integrating leadership principles and business skills into current training manuals.
